Triquetra is a handmade pottery clay mug with a handle that is part of “Vikings” collection. The cup is engraved with the ancient Triquetra symbol, which in a particular sense represents the number three (3) and has a very deep meaning and various interpretations. There is no consistent consensus on the interpretation of the Triquetra symbol engraved on the cup, but here are the following common interpretations:
- Three is a number that identifies a couple and the presence of a higher power
- Three are mind, body, and soul
- Three is the holy trinity, God, the Son and the Holy Spirit
- Three is past, present, future
- Three are three leaves united into a single canvas and symbolize life
- Three are life, death, rebirth
Of course, this is far from the entire list of interpretation options, but these are quite common options as to how the Triquetra symbol can be read. In our pottery studio, we tried to convey this powerful symbol as authentically as possible by carving it in a mug. The history of great nations such as the Celts and Vikings inspired us to create this mug.
The terracotta mug has a traditional capacity of ~350 ml, which makes it convenient to use during a tea-time meal or for coffee drinking.
Incredibly harmonious in its colors and shades, the internal glazing, exclusive external decoration, and exquisite ornament – this is exactly what can inspire everyday life and fill moments of tea with intimacy and coziness.
The mug is made of red pottery clay that will keep the tea aroma and temperature for a long time because terracotta is a natural material that perfectly retains heat or cold.

How it's handmade?
For Artglina it's very important to follow the ancient handmade eco friendly production technology that leads all the products to exceptional eye-catching design and quality resulted in lifelong product use. The technology that we strictly follow for all our products leads us to natural products as close as possible to original ancient pottery and can be represented by the following (5) five major steps:
|Products are created and dried within 2 weeks.
|Firing at 960°C (1760°F) degrees for 12 hours and as a result, row clay turns into a ceramic.
|Glaze firing 920°C (1688°F) - 980°C (1796°F) that take from several hours to an entire day.
|Milk firing at a temperature of 300°C (572°F). The natural milk moisture evaporates and the milky fat clogs the ceramic pores. This step takes one more day.
|Gnosis coating (a mixture of linseed oil + beeswax) fixes the milky layer and adds contrast to the product. This is considered the final major step that requires one more day.
The creation of each product is a complex process the contains a number of steps and requires between 3 - 5 weeks before the product gets finished and can be sent to the customer. All the ingredients and materials that we use for the creation of products are natural and eco friendly.
|Considered a serial position. It is manual work and unique, but it's created according to well-defined patterns and is available for stock.
